Editing in Lightroom and finishing in Photoshop

Hey guys, here are some thoughts i wanted to share.

I used to edit my images in Lightroom alone and don’t get me wrong, Lightroom is a very powerful tool, but lately i couldn’t do the finishing touches on my images so i got my self into using Photoshop more and more.

Photoshop offers some extremely powerful tools for photographers but needs a-lot of practice to get to a point you can use it seamlessly on your work flow.

The most used tool i get to use is Layer Masks and Luminosity selections.

Having the ability to make selective edits to your images is something you cannot do in Lightroom even with the latest addition of Range Masks.

The Dodge and Burn is a technique that you have to use to make your image pop and lead the viewer’s eye to where you want to!

There are several was you Dodge and Burn and i’ll share them over time with you.

For now here is what editing in Lightroom and finishing in Photoshop can look like.

I think this has happened to a lot of us!

At some point after getting to know Lightroom to a certain level we know there is more to it, there is more advanced features but we dont look them up. One day we stumble upon an article or video that says tips and tricks about Lightroom or maybe hidden features. We look at the bulleted list and we actually already know almost everything except maybe one or two thinks and then we are like whoa thats nice! or could use that!

Well, i dont know about you but i caught my self in this position quite a few times lately. So i figured well maybe am not alone, and i decided to share a few tips that aren’t too obvious and that i actully use on my daily workflow!

Over time i’ll be adding more to this List!

Enjoy for now!!

  • You can change the Amount of Intensity of an Adjustment (Graduated, Radial or Brush)

    • When you make any adjustment you can change the amount by a simple step HOLD ALT+Click and Drag Left or Right on the small dot that indicates your adjustment. Or another way is to collapse the adjustments on the list and a new bar will appear named Amount which you can change!

    • A small video below with extreme adjustment to demonstrate this
